- Place a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it back up.

- When a cake recipe calls for flouring the pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead. This way there is no white mess on the outside of the cake.

- Don’t freeze more than 2 pounds of food per cubic foot of freezer capacity per day.

- To freeze apples: Steam/blanch sliced apples for 3 minutes. Cool in very cold water and drain. Cover with ½ cup sugar for every 4 cups f sliced apples. Fill pint or quart size freezer bags 3 to 4 inches from top. Then squeeze out air and seal.

- Most fully ripened honey will granulate (become solid) under the proper circumstances. You may still use it that way or put your honey container in a pan of water and raise the temperature to 110 degrees, which will liquefy the honey again.
