Carol Martin, a retired kindergarten teacher, began designing and making bears in 1984. Carol's bears, which are heavier than most, have a bag of steel BB's in their belly. Each bear comes with an attached brass tag with the bear's name on the one side and the edition number on the other. Carol always has a story as to the origin of the name. Carol's bears have been featured in The Complete Book of Teddy Bears; Teddy Bear Review and the Who's in Teddy Bear Making.
